The first festival was held in 1974 and activities resumed again in 1978 and 1979 . The festival was shelved for several years after arrests in 1980 and resumed again as a one day event in 1983 . The festival has continued to date although it is no longer free and was reported to be in financial difficulties in 2006 .

1978 featured Steve Hillage , Here and Now and Sphynx amongst other lesser known acts . We are looking for reports and photos of the other festivals.

1979 : June 30th - July 1st 1979
12,000 attendees attended over a weekend that featured good weather , there was only minor damage reported. 40 food stalls including a free food kitchenm supplied eats and there were adequate toilets ( although none for the disabled). No complaints about noise,no helath problems- overall it seems a good time was had by all except for those disabled people who wanted a crap .
