Gypsies.
The
African Gypsies main claim to fame as far as the Adelaide crowd were concerned
was their link to the fabled Phil
Manzanera of the late Roxy Music .Their
music is fun, if unspectacular, needing more strong songs and a build
up to some sort of peak ,as per Baaba and Selif Keita, but they certainly
were pleasant and have the potential to develop into a force to be reckoned
with if they can recruit some better songwriters in their lineup. Part
of their Saturday set was broadcast on ABC radio and they also had a song
and a short interview featured in the ABC TV special on Womad |
